incompatable with windows 8.1 ?

Hey guys, ive just upgraded from windows 7 to 8.1 and i can no longer play tib wars or kanes wrath in any resolution other than 800 x 600, which means one predator tank pretty much fills the screen and completely cockblocks me from playing online games. has anyone else managed to get it working on 8.1? im using origin but also have a steam version to try. after changing resoloution i get a serious error message and the game terminates.

i had no problem before, using gtx 770 sli, with up to date drivers and i have tried running in compatibility mode. please help guys, man cannot live on skyrim alone

Run the game as administrator and try out compatibility modes for Win7, WinVista and WinXP.
