Hey everyone,

First of all, I would like to take an opportunity to give a great big shoutout to the founders and developers of this website. The idea that you have here is a great one, and the potential is astounding. It's breathing new life into the Kane's Wrath community and is a wonderful thing to see.

Now that the brown-nosing is done with...down to the nitty-gritty intent of this post: a "website feedback" thread. I fully understand that the developers are enormously busy with getting everything squared away with the tournament/1.02+ R8/etc, but wanted to take a chance to voice my opinion on "what could be improved here" in terms of the website design, standards, etc. Please keep in mind that these are just my opinions and are certainly not any form of "demand."

Some of the items that I would personally like to see modified, added/removed, etc. are the following:

  • Perhaps there could be a limit to 1 or 2 posts in the "News" section on the homepage to reduce the overall size of the page and reduce loading times. This will also reduce clutter and make better use of the footer.
  • Perhaps a new background that is a little higher quality and more relevant to Kane's Wrath/ The ion cannon looks cool, but could swing towards a large number of C&C titles and doesn't necessarily jump out as "Kane's Wrath." Perhaps that's the intent? I don't know; that's just my opinion.

  • It would be nice to limit the number of news articles to perhaps 2 or 3 here to decrease loading times and make better use of the footer.
  • Perhaps eliminate the entire left column (ie. donations/links/online memebers/page counter) and allow the news to be a wider module, effectively making it easier to read and reducing the "clutter" on the page.
  • For the right column, perhaps eliminate all of the current content and transition that over to a list of previous new articles that have hyperlinks (or something to that effect)? That will make this content very specific to the page, and will be a much easier way for users to find the information that they're looking for.
  • Seeing that this is going to be the bread-and-butter of this site, and could really benefit from a more streamlined interface. Perhaps remove both the left and right columns to allow the forum module to fit the entire width of the page? That seems like it will provide the best viewing experience imo.
  • Maybe some de-facto rules could be put in place (either at the admin level, or a general "rules" page/thread)? Some items to include:
                    - Maximum size for signature images (some are just ridiculous, and force users to scroll a decent amount just to get to the next post).
                    - Have some form of anti-flaming requirement, as enormous flame wars do nothing but de-value the community and forum as a whole (again, nothing drastic, but perhaps some kind of guideline here)

  • We don't have any content for this yet (understandably)
  • Once again, either eliminate the left/right columns, or have them contain page-specific content that is relevant to tournaments.
  • Add some form of calendar/agenda to this page, so people can see when events are as well as see when previous events took place (and perhaps have links to info about those tournaments? I know, digging far deeper than necessary, but that's what I'd love to see).
  • Will elaborate further upon content being added to the page...

  • Looks good. Wouldn't change anything, as it's a nice drop down list setup. Simple and to-the-point.
"The Rest":
  • Will reserve comment on all of these items as most are not yet fully-functional, but seem necessary.

These are just some basic items that I've looked at, and could certainly go deeper if anyone would like. At any rate...that's my take on it. Again, I would like to reiterate that this is not a "flaming" of the website design, but rather constructive criticism from a community member that would love to see this website thrive well into the future for all to enjoy.

Would be nice to hear what others think as well, so feel free to comment on the items that I've outlined or propose some items of your own. I'm posting this thread without having discussed anything with the admins here (oooooo...maybe add a list of admins somewhere to allow us to know who to contact in the event of an issue or concern?), so hopefully this is not received poorly on their end.

Good work everyone!
